Get Rid of Spiders
Serving the Louisiana & Mississippi Gulf Coast For Over 50 Years
Spiders are a unique creature that can live in varied environments and have a tendency to resist death. The warm temperatures and humidity of southern states make them highly susceptible to several different types of spiders. Spiders are commonly found in dark, moist areas that are regularly undisturbed, such as brush piles, underneath a potted plant, crawl spaces, wood piles, and underneath garbage can handles are common hangouts for spiders.
Venomous spiders exist throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama including the Brown Widow, Brown Recluse, and the Black Widow. The increasing humidity and temperature throughout the south is one of the reasons these spiders are able to survive and reproduce. Spiders are typically afraid of humans and a spider will not bite a human unless it is provoked.
Spiders may enter houses and other structures through cracks and other openings. Spiders also may be carried in on items like plants, firewood, and boxes. When a spider enters your home it will hide in any dark spot such as corners, cracks in wood flooring, or behind curtains. Spiders have also been known to live in stacks of clothing and down inside of living room furniture. Regular vacuuming or sweeping of windows, rooms, storage areas, basements, and other seldom used areas helps remove spiders and their webs.
To prevent spiders from coming indoors, seal cracks in the foundation and other parts of the structure and gaps around windows and doors. Good screening not only will keep out many spiders but also will discourage them by keeping out insects that they must have for food.
