Even NBA Players Hate Bedbugs

Just nine minutes into Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kyrie Irving was sidelined with flu-like symptoms.

“It was honestly from the bed bugs from the Hilton that we stayed at,” Irving said. “We came into the game and I was freaked out. I didn’t get any sleep … Started feeling nauseous.” (Newsok.com)

According to a statement from Jessica Dustin, Director of Rooms at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City, bed bugs were found in Irving’s room. Dustin said inspectors confirmed that the infestation was isolated to one room, which will be out of commission for “several weeks” after multiple treatments. (Newsok.com)

In a study from Purdue University, nearly 30 diseases have been found in bed bugs, including everything from viruses and bacteria to protozoa and parasitic worms, so it’s no surprise that Irving felt bad.
