Bee, Wasp, & Hornet Exterminators – Control – Removal

SERVING LOUISIANA AND MISSISSIPPI

Bees, wasps, and hornets are all pollinators, and they are classified as beneficial insects. They’re helping our world stay green and beautiful, after all. But bees, wasps, and hornets can also carry a nasty sting. Despite their beneficial qualities, stinging insects should not be near your home and family. Allergic reactions can sometimes be deadly, and structures can be damaged by certain species of stinging insects.

Avoid Bee, Wasp, and Hornet Infestations

The best way to prevent unpleasant encounters with bees, wasps, and hornets is to avoid them. If you know where they are, try not to go near their nesting place. Wasps become very defensive when their nest is disturbed. Be on the lookout for wasps that are flying directly in and out of a single location, as they are probably flying to and from their nest. Once food is discovered, they will continue to hunt around that location long after the source has been removed.

Bee Pest Control

Bees can be attracted to odors in the environment. It is best not to use perfume, cologne, or scented soaps if you are going into an area of bee and/or wasp activity. Avoid going barefoot in vegetation, especially clover and blooming ground covers. If you know bees will be present, avoid wearing brightly colored or patterned clothing, and always wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt.

Some bees are aggressive defenders of their nests, and will chase invaders for a considerable distance. Stinging incidents often occur when nests of bees are disturbed. If you see insects flying to and from a particular place, avoid it.

The bee sting is one of the most painful types of stings. Bee problems can be prevented through inspection and removal of potential nesting areas. Because bees will sting when threatened and their colonies are so large, homeowners are advised not to address the infestation themselves. Contact a pest control professional or experienced beekeeper who can safely remove a nest.

Wasp Pest Control

The term yellow jacket refers to a number of different species of wasps. Yellow jackets are a type of social wasp about half an inch long. Yellow jackets are very aggressive and may sting repeatedly, making it important for humans to avoid them. They have bright yellow-and-black markings, and nests can be found along the edge of forests or in wooded areas, sitting low on trees. Yellow jackets also build nests in old buildings, abandoned cars, and other enclosed spaces like voids in walls and ceilings of houses.

Other species of wasps hang their comb nests from branches of trees and shrubs, porch ceilings, the tops of window and doorframes, eaves, attic rafters, underneath deck floors and railings. Colonies, which are begun each spring by a single reproductive female, can reach populations of between 1,500 and 15,000 individuals, depending on the species.
